As much as I mean to keep this blog up to date, I just don't know where the time goes, it has been a beautiful summer and very very busy and I have even managed to fit in a few holidays, Menorca, France and Ireland! But there has been lots of photography, air shows, 40's revivals, race for life, musicians, weddings, cars shows, birthdays, proms, and studio sessions! Hope you enjoy the images!

Well having a great time with my photography, been so busy and so varied and been loving every minute of it, there have been plenty of family shoots, car shows,a 1940s' - 50s' weekend at the Farriers Arms which was a great success, helped enormously by the weather and great pub food and drink. Not to mention being on hand to take the images of my Granddaughters prom and then her birthday party Next up this week is a wedding followed by three model portfolios, which should be fun with a mix of both studio and location shooting! Then it will be off to France for a well earned break, but of course that will only give me more opportunity to get the camera out!
So lucky to get the opportunity of using a unique venue for Linda's model shoot and to top it all the weather was fantastic, hope you enjoy a few of the images.
Well another busy week with beautiful weather, a great excuse to go to the seaside - well I had to go anyway since I was taking a look at the wedding venue for a wedding in August, always like to have a preview to sus out the place, check the lighting and location for shoots, as it turns out the registry office is a beautiful old building with lovely large windows giving great light with some lovely garden areas for the after ceremony shoots. So with the weather being so good we decided to spend some time enjoying the seafront and the sunshine which gave me an opportunity to get some candid shots.
Then when we had hoped that the weather would hold for the Darling Buds of May Classic Car Show on Sunday, what happens the heavens open - well I guess true to form for an English summer event!!! However, didn't stop us, even though it meant spending a good deal of the morning sitting in the car out of the lashing rain! Some people however carried on determined not to let the weather spoil their enjoyment! Luckily by lunch time the skies cleared and the sun came out and it proved to be a beautiful warm sunny afternoon, and meant I was able to get out and grab a few more candid shots, never know what you might find, although I have to say even I was amazed to find the 'Foxy Lady'! Well it started well with a family photo shoot which was great fun and some lovely images - then it was off to celebrate my granddaughters birthday, held on a farm with lots of opportunities to try my hand at equine photography, and today I had to part with my much loved bike - although I hadn't really ridden it much lately, so when my husband decided to put both bikes on ebay, I decided to have one last ride - well that was my mistake - because it had been a while since I had ridden it and I had completely forgotten that I needed to get out of the saddle and onto the pedals when I stopped, because the bike had alas always been a bit big for me, meaning I couldn't reach the ground when seated! So I forgot, stopped put my foot down and yes you guessed it I couldn't reach the ground and over I went followed by the bike, unfortunately I have now learnt that at my age I just don't bounce so well as I used to - plus the house wall was rather too close, meaning I fell head first into the back wall of the house - ouch!! So drama all round, paramedics called, but I am happy to say no real damage apart from my pride - felt a complete idiot when asked what I had done!! Although had the last laugh when the paramedic's car rolled clean off the drive into the road because he had not applied the hand brake!
So so long bike hope you are good to your new owners! Well who wouldn't be refreshed after a 10 day break on a beauiful island with wall to wall sunshine and fabulous food, although of course the food was a problem due to not being able to resist the temptation to eat everything and anything washed down of course with some good wine! Still as always the diet starts now! The camera was in full use during the ten days and although there was plenty of scenery to shoot I still feel that my efforts at landscape leave a lot to be desired and so I had a pop at a few candid shots just to keep my hand in!! Now it is back to the studio and work and I can't wait!
Well anyone who follows my blog knows how intermittent my posts are!!! I read all the advice about keeping one's blog up to date to get better exposure - but somehow I get so busy I just don't find time, now maybe that is a good thing because it could be argued that I would be spending time on the blog and not on the photography! However, let me update you a little on the goings on at Tess Salmon Photography - I have been trying all sorts of photography lately taking me right out of my comfort zone of portrait and wedding photography and it has been challenging and fun. First up was the equine photography, still wary of those big beasts but happy with the images I managed to get, second up commercial images - so much more challenging that I had anticipated but with some helpful tips from a professional architectural photographer I managed to keep the client happy! Even tried my hand at some nature photography and have to say how those photographers manage to achieve the fantastic results of bees and butterflies I just don't know, and for me that was the hardest thing ever, I spent over an hour taking photos of butterflies and bees and the end result was just one image that I was pleased with, so I know I need to stick to the portraits!! Which leads me on to the studio stuff, fantastic session with Emma and Peter, Emma singing and Peter playing his accordian meant we got some great shots, then a family sitting that was such fun with some lovely results and up next is a P.R shoot, and a wedding so I am heading back to my comfort zone - and back to the studio!
Well I am pretty hopeless at this blogging lark! Time seems to fly past and suddenly I remember I haven't been keeping you all informed! The weather has been so good it has meant that my photography has been on location rather than in the studio - although the studio hasn't been completely ignorned. A couple of great fashion shoots on location have been great fun whilst in the studio I have been busy with family portraits and musicians - with the family portraits I had one lovely family who came with their dog, when they arrived the dog was bouncing all over the place and I was thinking that old adage of never working with children and animals and was seriiously worried that the dog would bounce all round the studio and destroy everything, I was so wrong!!! In the event the children and the dog were perfect models and I got some stunning images which mum is delighted with! Just wish I could post them here but as you know I do need permission from clients to use their images on the web. However the fashion shoot images are here for you to see.
Just cannot believe how fab this weather is after the long wet winter it has been a real tonic to get outside, even managed to have lunch al fresco! and it is only Just April! Apart from the Sahara sand all over my car I have no complaints but looking ahead to the weekend looks like rain may be forecast, so good excuse not to wash the car yet!
Today I received my official LRPS certificate which I will just have to frame!!! But where to hang it could be a problem! I also received notification that one of my images will be published in a car magazine this month - this will be the second time I have been published in car mags. not bad for a portrait photographer I guess!!! Or maybe I am doing the wrong sort of photography!!! Would love to upload the images from the last studio sitting but the parents haven't seem them yet! Great images of a six month old and his delightful older brother, and mum and dad got in on the act too! Next session is a fashion shoot - so hoping for good weather into next week, then a music band to photograph so all go!! It has been another great week both for the weather and for photography, had the
pleasure of photographing Jasmine and Izzy who really seemed to enjoy the studio session, and now I look forward to more studio work tomorrow when I have a booking for a 6 month old baby and a toddler of three, best time to get great images of children so hoping I manage to do them justice! Have been out and about this week taking pictures of springtime, my most favourite time of the year and I am lucky to live in the countryside and have the fields full of lambs right on my doorstep! Also been out walking and enjoying the good weather, this week my walk took in Leeds Castle where I had a lovely lunch with some friends, all in all been a good week and topped off by receiving lovely cards and flowers from some very lovely clients, so nice when you know that they really like your work! Then I was further surprised by being asked for some images from the fashion shoot at Brooklands for possible publication in a car magazine, so whoop whoop, I am a very happy bunny! |
