Well it has been a brilliant week - start of the week I was glued to my computer editing all the amazing images from the Brooklands fashion shoot - next up quoting for weddings- and another booking for the studio - but maybe the best thing of all was getting wonderful emails from clients so delighted with the images - sure makes one feel good when your work is appreciated!!! Trips to London and the coast have taken up more of the week, so now looking forward to chilling with the family this weekend!!!

Well what an amazing weekend, first up the photography show which didn't disappoint, so much to see, so many new products, wonderful live shows with some great photographers including Damien McGillicuddy and Karl Taylor - not only were their demonstrations inspiring but also great fun, but the highlight for me was gaining a distinction with the Royal Photographic Society! It has been months of hard work and preparation and on the day I was not at all sure I would be successful - the judges had already discounted some of the panels and sitting in the room waiting for your work to be judged was simply nerve wracking, but to hear your name called out to be told that you had supplied a successful body of work was amazing! Think I am still on cloud nine, so now that I have achieved my LRPS time to think about going for the next one, well that is if the nerves can stand it!!
Amazingly enough although tempted by all the new products on display and despite thinking about upgrading one of my cameras, and spending ages on the canon stand playing with the cameras, I managed to keep my spending in check and came home with just a new stand and boom arm for the studio!!! Just bursting to tell you - so pleased but I promise not to go on about it! A nice surprise - having entered the Kent County Photographic Association competition and exhibition I was very pleased indeed to have won a place in the portrait session, so all the hard work of preparing prints and images was well worth it, the exhibition isn't until May but it is always great to see your work on display.
This week has been busy preparing for more competitions but a nice break at the end of the week will see me at the Photography Show hopefully keeping my credit card firmly in my pocket!!! Although I think that might just be a tad hopeful with all the new gear and ideas that the show promises! The next shoot looks to be a really interesting one - location fashion shoot - just hope for a dry day! Will keep you posted and hopefully have a good set of images to share. Well so many people are suffering in this dreadful weather so although I keep moaning about the weather I should stop it, because we are not flooded out and as I work from home I don't even have to travel anywhere!!! But does that stop me -NO!! However I have been putting my time to good use, even though I haven't been in the studio very much. I have been preparing images for exhibition and competition and I even attended a webinar on Equine Photography really can't wait to have a go at that but that will definitely not be until we have a good spell of dry weather!! In the meantime have been playing about with more black and white photography.
Well I have been lucky enough to photograph both Georgia and Sophie previously but this is the best shoot so far, both girls are such fun and always changing their look making my job so much easier and their images more interesting - this time Georgia just reminded me of a young Audrey Hepburn - can't wait for the next session!
What fun I had in the studio, three grandchildren being photographed for a special present for their grandads' 70th birthday! I hadn't realised that my small studio could accommodate handstands, football, backflips and lots of bundles! All resulting in some great images - we even had 'big teddy' involved for a bit of quiet time! Roll on the next session - nothing like a bunch of kids having fun the best way to get some natural shots showing their true characters - oh and they were characters thats for sure!
Well photography has been low priority since the beginning of the year - but all systems go again now. I have several churches still to photograph but have been a bit held up by the dreadful weather and of course waiting for all the christmas cribs, trees and other decorations to be removed before any more internal shots can be taken.
Also took off for a few days to Southampton primarily to celebrate my hubby's birthday but also to help my son and family move house - the camera didn't get a look in! Still latest studio work proved successful and yes I did manage to get lots ofimages - smiling looking at the camera shots as well as the couple of images are shown below. It looks like it is going to be another exciting year -enquiries coming in for weddings and portrait sittings - even property photography and equine photography - at this rate I should become an allrounder - well who knows watch this space! Don't forget if you would like any portraits of family, children grandchildren - a sitting plus 2 x mini books is still only £50.00 Great presents and the mini books are great one to keep and one to give! Cannot believe this dreadful weather - what a start to a New Year, so gloomy, wet with howling gales bashing the house most unpleasant! If and when there is a break I will endeavour to get outside and try to get some shots! The trouble with the weather being like this means I have far too much time to browse the camera gear websites, the likes of Wex and Park Cameras with all their tempting offers!!! Let alone the danger of the one click buy on Amazon, please weather change to save me from bankruptcy
Well I don't suppose I am the only one with a hangover after the New Year celebations - a good sign of a great party with lovely friends - but now to look forward to 2014 - only seems like yesterday that we were celebrating the millenium, frightening where time goes! Still the start to 2014 weatherwise is just grim, dark, wet and very gloomy, still it is a good excuse to laze around the house, light the fire and snuggle up with a good book and try not to be tempted into finishing the cake chocolates etc. just to get them out of the way so that the diet can start!! Certainly can't get outside to take any photos and the studio isn't open again until the 6th so I have spent some time updating my photography files, and looking back over the past year and would like to share some of my favourite shots - it's not all work - I love to just take my camera where ever I go! Sightseeing in London, candid unsuspecting shots of people, waiting at the station, in a restaurant, taking a selfie, having a gossip in a shopping centre, high heels, churches, flowers, weddings, dancers and entertainers, windmills well you get the picture!!!
The blog has been sadly neglected for some time - so apologies but well like everyone else I have been caught up in the Christmas round of shopping, baking, icing the cake, and parties!! But what a year started off with a three month trip to Oz and continued with trips to Ireland and France and somewhere in between I managed to get a lot of photography done as well. I am very pleased to report that all the Christmas bookings were finished and delivered in good time several mini books for family presents for parents and grandparents as well as prints and canvas prints. So now taking a Christmas break before the bookings roll in from the Christmas vouchers! Looking forward to meeting more wonderful families next year, and a big thank you to all those lovely families I have had the priviledge of photographing during the past year. Thank you all for choosing me as your photographer and best wishes to you for a very Merry Christmas!
