Had the best time shooting a recent wedding on this occasion I was second shoot so it was rather more relaxed for me, although how I can say that when I arrived to take the grooms getting ready images he wasn't even there, still at the hairdressers!!! Once he got back I have to say I have never seen so much chaos, eight males, groom, best man, ushers and page boys all trying to get ready - it very quickly became apparent that if I didn't step in and help out I wasn't going to get any images and they weren't going to make the church on time! As I already knew as a wedding photographer be prepared to do whatever to help the day go smoothly in this case it was iron 7 or eight shirts in between getting my images, well it was fun, what a great crowd of chaps and a challenge too, but we got the images and we got to the church on time! Can't publish any images of the bride and groom here as they haven't seen them yet! But a few detail shots shouldn't give the game away too much.
My next shoot was a commercial shoot completely different - taking images for a developer of a new homes site. Now I am preparing for a weekend of life style shooting, which I am really looking forward to, just brimming with ideas and will post images later.

It is a couple of months since I last posted on my blog and I really don't know where the time goes, but it has been busy, lots and lots of photography both studio and personal projects. Studio work has been varied and lots of fun, starting with images of John the Toastmaster in all his regalia, a fabulous old lady just about to turn 97 years young, and some family portraits - but I have had enormous fun out and about taking images at car shows, summer fetes, days in London, weekend in Eastbourne where we were lucky enough to find ourselves in the middle of their carnival celebrations! Personal projects have been on going with the camera club season coming to a finish with the awards evening, winning is such a buzz, especially when it is for my portraits!! I have also been busy getting together 10 images for my next adjudication much soul searching or rather image searching for the best I can possibly do - August will reveal whether or not I have made the right decisions! And in the middle of all that a fantastic holiday to Provence and wow what amazing opportunities for some street and candid photography!
So what's up next? another car show, another musician's portfolio, a wedding, a family portrait lifestyle shoot oh and I am sure plenty of candid photography too!!! Well not only has Spring sprung but it feels like summer is here already! Fantastic weather makes so much difference and it is so good to get outside in the garden and out walking across the fields once again! With lots of photography happening in between times. I have been enjoying using new props, backdrops and softboxes in the studio, and have had lots of lovely families to shoot, including one family with their pet dog, well he is part of the family I guess! Also had a great opportunity to get out of the studio and out of my comfort zone and into the real world of event photography with a music gig shoot, which really stretched me, having to juggle with poor lighting and using flash but happily I ended up with some nice shots.
Next up more family shoots and working on a personal project to go forward for an accreditation, finding 10 superb prints is not that easy, so much work still to do!!! Been having great fun with the photography, since I last blogged!!! London Fashion Show, Engagement Shoot, two mucisian shoots and tomorrow another fashion shoot at Brooklands!!
And the nicestof recommendations from my last shoot makes everything so worthwhile, oh and as I am bragging also did quite well in competitions at camera club with a couple of wins!! One of which was a composite image a new venture for me, so that was really quite rewarding and maybe just maybe I will try my hand at more when I get time!!! Well we have also been enjoying the most beautiful winter sunshine and no doubt now that I have said that the weather will change!! But it has meant that I have been able to do some location shooting as well as getting back to my walking!!! Anyway here are a few images from my recent shoots! As is expected January is fairly quiet and the studio has been almost neglected! It has given me time to devote some time to personal challenges, getting to grips with layers and textures in photoshop and also clearing out some deadwood from my computer which was groaning under the strain of so many images!! I have also had time to get out and about and start to get some images for my 100 strangers project, really great fun just getting candid shots of people in everyday situations. I am also working on my images for adjudication for an accreditation with the PAGB!
In addition I have had a couple of shoots one with some musicians and another believe it or not at the seaside in mid January!!! On both occasions managed to get some great images, and who would have guessed that you could have a mild almost spring like day in the middle of January, there was almost too much sun for capturing the images, but we managed with flash and a large diffuser held either to the side or above the model to create some shade!!! Have also taken some more portraits ranging from an elderly gentleman to teenagers and very young children. So lots has been happening and I have had great fun with it all. This week it is has been back to the studio, more images of the beautiful Olivia and the next booking is for another musician can't wait!! Well Christmas is upon us once again, and I have been lucky enough to complete all my editing in time for delivery despite going down with a grotty virus!!! Hate being ill and even a great secret agent fashion shoot at Brooklands couldn't take my mind off how ill I felt, still managed to struggle through although don't think for a moment I did the models the justice they deserved!!! Still hopefully we will have another chance next year to get together again for some more fantastic shooting at Brooklands, such an amazing location, a big thank you to Jason Dodd for organising once again.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy healthy New Year, personally I am already looking forward to the January shoots, family group, another musician and a portfolio shoot, so all good stuff to keep me busy!!! Been having a great time Brooklands fashion shoot was a real challenge because of shooting in difficult light conditions, but how fantastic to have access to the museum and the Barbara Cartland room, but my favourite shots were taken in the snooker/billard room (someone will correct me no doubt!!!) Abig thank you to Gemma, Olivia and Sonia for being our rather patient models.
Following on from that a session with Joe and Neil taking portrait images for their publicity brochures and web pages, they kept us well entertained with their guitar strumming! Next up is the Father Christmas photos for the local Christmas Fair! Last year I took along lights and softboxes, this year I am going minimalist! Thank goodness for off camera speedlights! After that I have a lovely family coming to the studio for their group portrait session - really looking forward to it all! Still a few places left for family or child portraits for Christmas presents! Studio session just £35.00 prints from under £10.00 Such fun several bookings have been taken up on the Christmas Offer special! So lots of family and children photography coming up, plus some more fashion shoots and another musician shoot!!! So enjoy my photography! This week I spent a couple of days away and whilst in a small cafe in a beautiful Cotswolds village, low and behold I met a fellow photographer, he was doing a shoot for a magazine advertising the cafe! It was interesting watching him set up his shots and his interaction with the staff and customers, clearly this shoot for him was a chance to enjoy good coffee, cake and company!!! Always good to chat to another photographer! Oh and take a sneaky pic!!! IWell I have finally come up for air and had time to think about the special offer for Christmas and I am sure like evryone else I hate having to think about Christmas and in particular Christmas presents this early, but if you want to save the headache and the trudge around the shops for that special something, why not consider a family portrait? Or child portrait, be it baby, toddler, teenager, adult or even your pet! For the month of October/November I am offering a free studio sitting - the only cost will be the c.d. prints or books that you might like to order and give as gifts. With mini books capable of holding a good selection of shots from a portrait session prices start at just £25!
Special offer Mounted prints 7 x 5 from £10.00. 10 images on a CD for you to print from £45.00 Choices of larger books, canvas or mounted and framed prints can also be ordered. Just to get you thinking here are a few images showing family and child portraiture! Well what a summer, we can't complain it has been great and for me very busy with trips to France, Ireland, Belgium and last week Wales and inbetween times I have managed some weddings and lots of family photo shoots. Now with winter and Christmas fast approaching I need to get organised with my Christmas offers for studio portrait sittings. Family portraits make such great presents, just prints, framed or mounted, books or maybe a canvas - grandparents are always difficult to buy for but photos of the grandchildren are a sure fire winner when it comes to presents! Of course it doesn't just have to be the little ones that make for cute photos, older children, teenagers and family groups all make great portraits! So watch this space for the Christmas specials!
